Weapon holders are an important part of the outfit; they allow you to carry swords, daggers or other weapons safely without having to worry about dropping your weapon in the middle of an event or medieval re-enactment. Their main function is to ensure the weapon is always accessible without having to carry it in your hand; these holders are usually attached to a belt or straps to maintain the character’s look. The most common types are sword holders, dagger holders, or systems for hanging heavy weapons such as axes. These accessories help to organise your gear and allow the player to move with complete freedom, whilst also ensuring the weapon is ready for combat without compromising your character’s appearance.
Comfort depends on where you position your weapon; many players prefer to carry their sword on the side of their belt, whilst others like to carry it slightly angled at their back. This depends on your character’s backstory, the type of weapon you’re using, or your fighting style. The important thing in all these cases is that the weapon must be securely fastened and not shift whilst you move; a well-positioned holder helps prevent knocks and improves safety during use.
For the kit to function properly, the weapon holder must integrate with the rest of the ensemble, bearing in mind that the belt is usually the main point of attachment and that its size and width directly influence the choice; furthermore, the holder must fit well with the scabbard if one is used; in many cases, the kit includes other items such as light armour, straps or pouches that must coexist without interference, and when everything is properly fitted, the ensemble is more comfortable and stable during the event, preventing unnecessary movements and keeping the weapon balanced whilst walking
A very common problem when using gun holsters is that they can shift or twist during movement; to prevent this, it is advisable to fasten the straps or loops securing the holster to the belt tightly. Some designs incorporate multiple attachment points to help solve this problem; another important point is to distribute the weight of the equipment evenly so that the belt does not tilt to one side. A good fit helps keep the weapon in place during intense activities, as well as increasing safety throughout the event.
