Plate Gauntlets

Plate gauntlets can be the finishing touch that completes your outfit, especially if your character is noble, knightly, or a legendary hero. They can also play a practical role, since in LARP combat the hands are among the parts of the body that take the most hits. You can find gauntlets that protect only the wrists and the back of the hand, giving you more mobility but less coverage, and more complete models that even protect the fingers.

Gauntlets should do more than protect. They also need to allow a solid grip on your weapon and shield so movement feels as natural and dynamic as possible. The right gauntlets let you stay in control while still giving you strong protection.

Gauntlets usually use straps and buckles for adjustment. Like the other pieces in a plate armor set, gauntlets should work with the rest of your gear without getting in the way or reducing mobility and comfort. For example, if your bracers extend all the way to the wrists, your gauntlets should start at the wrist, or have a wider wrist section so the bracer can sit properly without rubbing or pinching.

So, the key is to look at the armor pieces you already have, or the ones you plan to add, and choose gauntlets that integrate cleanly with the rest of your kit.
